Food waste collection service

The Food Waste Collection Service is being introduced to the following areas:

  • Llanfaes, Llangoed and Beaumaris
  • London Road, Morawelon (Holyhead)
  • Cemaes Bay, Bull Bay, Tregele and areas of Amlwch
  • Aberffraw, Hermon, Malltraeth, Newborough and areas of Llangefni
  • Moelfre, Brynteg, Marianglas, Llanbedrgoch and Talwrn

What will we collect?

The items listed below are the items to be placed in the kitchen caddy. If there are items in the bin which aren’t included in this list, then the bin will not be emptied:

  • fruit and vegetables
  • meat and bones
  • fish
  • bread and pastries
  • tea and coffee grounds

We cannot take:

  • liquids – such as liquid fats, oils etc.
  • plastic bags
  • packaging

What we will do for you?

  • collect the mini food waste bins once a week on the same day as your bins and recycling boxes
  • we will return the mini food waste bin to where we collected it from
  • recycle the food waste into compost

What you can do for us?

  • please inform us if your collection has been missed
  • please place your mini food waste bin out for collection before 7am on the day of your collection
  • please put the correct items in the mini food waste bin
  • please try and reduce your waste as much as possible, this could save you at least £420 per year

If you have any queries regarding the service, we have surgeries on the following dates:

21st September 2009 – David Hughes  Community Centre, Beaumaris  4pm - 6pm

22nd September 2009 – London Road Community Centre, Holyhead 4pm - 6pm

23rd September 2009 – The Village Hall, Aberffraw 2pm - 3.30pm

23rd September 2009 – Pritchard Jones Memorial Hall, Newborough 4pm - 6pm

24th September 2009 – The Village Hall, Cemaes Bay 4pm - 6pm

25th September 2009 – The Old School, Marianglas 4pm - 6pm
