The council is currently facing significant challenges; increased demand, increasing public expectations and ever-decreasing core and grant funding, all of which makes the choices available to the council very difficult. 

The council must continue to support people to become more resilient and achieve the outcomes they want to see in their daily lives, which in turn will reduce demand on services.

The need for this Tackling Poverty Strategic Plan has been recognised as a priority and is driven by the Council Plan 2023 to 2028.
