World Heritage Site 

The Castles and Town Walls of Edward I in Gwynedd (Beaumaris, Caernarfon, Conwy and universal value in 1986. Protection of a WHS is assured in three ways:• By statute• Through the town and country planning system; and• Through state care.The Welsh Assembly Government and local authorities each have responsibilities for action in relation to the WHS.  Effective management of the site requires the co-ordination of these actions when projects are identified, planned and implemented.
