Anglesey Archives and Oriel Môn seek stories and objects related to the Covid-19 pandemic

Posted on 4 October 2021

Anglesey Archives and Oriel Môn are seeking to collect stories and objects from Anglesey residents to document their experiences during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Stories and objects that hold personal significance are sought - this could be diaries, journals, letters, poems, recipes, photographs, videos, music, artwork or handcrafts.

Esther Roberts, Oriel Môn Senior Manager explained, “We at Oriel Môn and Anglesey Archives are committed to collecting, preserving and promoting the rich history of Anglesey.”

She added, “We invite the people of Anglesey to share with us their records and objects so that we can document what life has been like on the Island during the unprecedented eighteen months of copious change.”

Anglesey Archives and Oriel Môn are asking residents to consider

  • what record or object reflects your experience of the COVID-19 pandemic?
  • what record or object will always remind you of the COVID-19 pandemic?

Anglesey’s Education, Culture, Libraries and Youth portfolio holder, Councillor Meirion Jones, said, “The last 18 months have been difficult and challenging for many people on Anglesey. However, it’s important that we are able to look back in years to come and remember the different stories and experiences our residents lived through during this time.”

Individuals living and/or working on Anglesey during the last 18 months are encouraged to take part in the project. Please send photos of your record, object and its story by email to Ffion Thomas, Collecting Covid-19 Co-ordinator (contact information below) with the details of your record or object.

The Anglesey Archives and Oriel Môn team will contact individuals whose record or object is selected and will arrange for its safe collection and transfer.
