Track, Trace and Protect team asks residents to be patient

Posted on 17 September 2021

With coronavirus cases rising sharply, Anglesey’s Track, Trace and Protect (TTP) Team are asking residents to be patient if expecting a phone call.

If the upward trend continues at its current rate – the island is expected to see more than 1,000 positive cases during September, far exceeding the previous high of 585 in August. The highest number of positive cases are still continuing to be seen in the 10 to 19 age group.

This is putting significant pressure on the dedicated, but small, team of tracers and advisers as they work to contact those who have tested positive and their contacts – and provide guidance about self-isolation and testing.

Council Leader, Councillor Llinos Medi, explained, “Coronavirus is still affecting every single one of us, in one way or another. With Welsh Government rules relaxed, we have seen a huge increase in cases on the island.”

“Our TTP team continues to offer support and advice to those who have tested positive for coronavirus and individuals who may have been in close contact with a positive case. Our staff are facing significant challenges in contacting everyone as quickly as they’d like, and cases are having to be prioritized at present. We would ask residents to be patient if waiting for a call and advice.”

Anglesey’s Chief Executive Annwen Morgan added, “Coronavirus is still a threat in our communities. Vaccination is having a positive impact on the severity of cases, but Ysbyty Gwynedd is seeing more admissions at present. I would ask everyone to please answer the phone, engage with our TTP officers, be courteous and listen to their advice. Their work will help keep you, your family, friends and community safe.”

Should Anglesey’s Track, Trace and Protect team need to contact you, they will call you using this phone number - 0292 1961 133 – please make sure you answer the phone.
